The Nicole shirt is named after one of my beloved grandmothers. Nicole is already part of the brand’s identity—her name appears alongside Bernadette’s—but I wanted to pay her a special tribute with this pattern. It is thanks to the help she and my grandfather have given me since the very beginning that I am able to offer you sewing patterns and make a living from my passion today. I know how proud she will be to learn that one of my patterns bears her name, so let me introduce you to the Nicole shirt pattern.
 
It is a fairly loose-fitting shirt featuring a double collar inspired by styles from the last century. I had in mind a nightgown I once saw in a period drama—though I can no longer recall the show's name. I wanted to reinterpret various collar shapes in this design to create a versatile shirt that’s fun to style.

You can choose to sew it with two collars of the same shape (one small, one large) or combine two collars of different sizes and shapes.
 
A single-collar version is also an option, as is a collarless version finished with a simple collar stand.
 
The long-sleeve cuffs come in three styles: classic, rounded, and pointed—allowing you to echo (or contrast with) the shape of the collar you’ve chosen.
 
The sleeves are puffed but not excessively so. They can also be sewn as short sleeves, finished with either a simple hem or a cuff for a more romantic look.
 
The lined shoulder yoke ensures a beautiful finish, complemented by French seams for an extra-polished touch. Of course, you can also choose to use standard seams with overlocked edges.

Finally, two lengths are available: a curved shirttail hem and a shorter, straight-cut version.

Serger is not needed.
