The Joséphine dress pays tribute to Joséphine Baker—a French citizen by choice, and a singer and dancer from the early 20th century. Active in the Resistance and a supporter of Martin Luther King, she was a "free woman" whom I find deeply inspiring.
Joséphine is also the name of a dear friend, and this pattern honors her.

The Joséphine dress is a bohemian, romantic style perfect for the mid-season. It highlights the shoulders with a lovely square neckline at both the front and back.

It features a loose, comfortable fit but can also be cinched at the waist with small side ties. The button placket on the front bodice is purely decorative. Optional pockets are included.

It offers two style options: three-quarter length sleeves (which can be lengthened to full-length sleeves) or straps. The straps are wide enough to allow you to wear a bra without it showing.

You can also sew a crop top or a blouse using this pattern.
